LILI HONORS THE LUNAR NEW YEAR AND THE YEAR OF THE WATER RABBIT
LiLi invites you to join us in celebrating this great festival, where traditional music and dance combine with tasty recipes from the Cantonese restaurant. We’ve now entered the “Lai See” period, the red envelopes containing a small amount of money traditionally exchanged at the Chinese New Year meal by parents for their children.
Asian traditions remain strong and continue to shape us over time. For the coming year, the LiLi restaurant celebrates the Water Rabbit: the combination of the rabbit, symbol of prosperity and peace, and the element Water, representing wealth in Chinese culture.
The reunion dinner
Considered in China to be the most important meal of the year, New Year’s dinner is a time to get together with family and friends. On Saturday, January 21, 2023, at dinner, the gourmet Cantonese restaurant LiLi invites its guests to enjoy a cuisine of traditional dishes, prepared with the star ingredients of the Chinese New Year.
The culinary experience begins with an assortment of appetizers selected by Chef Tak, followed by Atlantic salmon served in the Lo Hei tradition (a mix of vegetables and fish).
This is followed by a selection of the Chef’s Dim Sum (abalone, shrimp carabineros, vegetables and truffle), a traditional Chinese soup, sautéed lobster, beef tenderloin with garlic and chili sauce, and Chinese noodles
with braised crab. Longevity, prosperity and happiness, this menu of Asian flavors and strong symbolism ends with a selection of Cantonese desserts: glutinous rice pearl infused with ginger syrup, red bean brioche and the traditional Chinese New Year glutinous rice cake, Nian Gao.
A selection of these festive dishes will also be available à la carte at LiLi, from Tuesday January 24 to Saturday January 28, 2023, for lunch and dinner.
LiLi will generously offer her own “Lai See” to guests, who may be lucky enough to discover a surprise hidden inside these red envelopes. The Chinese lion dance in the New Year celebration
The end of the Lunar New Year celebrations will be marked by the famous Lion Dance on Saturday evening, January 21.
A symbol of strength, courage and wisdom, the lion is considered a “lucky” animal in Chinese tradition. For this reason, the lion dance is performed at festivals and other celebrations in the hope of attracting good luck and good fortune. Dressed in a lion costume, the dancers borrow the animal’s various movements and behaviors and reinterpret them to the rhythm of drum and gong beats.
Dancers and musicians will join forces to put on a captivating show, before the guests extend this moment of sharing in a festive musical atmosphere, brought to life by a talented DJ, who will be mixing at LiLi from 7.30pm to 11.30pm.
