For spring-summer 2027, JUUN.J has chosen “COSMOS” as its theme. An immense title for a precise idea: what happens when opposing elements are layered until they form a single order.
A title that looks upward
Some collection names promise more than they deliver. “COSMOS”, for JUUN.J’s spring-summer 2027, avoids that pitfall because it does not speak of stars in the decorative sense. The brand, presented as an international designer label belonging to Samsung C&T Fashion Group, starts from an observation: in the cosmos, diverse and contrasting elements are layered to compose a singular order.
From this image, JUUN.J draws three verbs that form the heart of the collection: to bloom, to layer, to contrast. Three gestures that describe a sky as much as a wardrobe.
Tailoring as a foundation
Nothing in this idea gives up what makes the brand’s identity. JUUN.J says it builds this collection on its core aesthetic, classic tailoring. It is from this discipline, that of cut and hold, that the different elements are layered to establish what the brand describes as a new sculptural beauty.
Here the suit is less a uniform than a structure that receives. It offers a framework rigorous enough that elements not of the same family can be layered onto it without the whole collapsing. Classicism becomes a condition of freedom.
One can read in this a form of confidence. A house that relies on classic cut has no need to raise its voice to be noticed: it is enough to let the elements meet and watch what happens. Layering, here, is not accumulation but a conversation between pieces that each keep their identity.
The balance of volumes
Contrast plays out first in proportions. The collection lets opposing silhouettes harmonise naturally, through different volumes between tops and bottoms, with, in the brand’s words, a flexible sense of balance. The word matters: it is not a symmetrical balance, nor a mechanical compensation, but an understanding between masses that do not resemble one another.
This is where the image of the cosmos stops being a mere dressing. A star does not resemble its neighbour, and yet the whole holds together. Transposed to a wardrobe, this logic invites us to think of each silhouette as a system, in which a voluminous top can converse with a sharper bottom, and vice versa, without either taking precedence over the other.
Fifteen silhouettes, forty cuts
The collection comprises 15 looks and 40 cuts. The number is modest, and that restraint is perhaps the best proof of seriousness: it highlights, according to the brand, the care given to the details, fabrics and silhouettes of each look composed. When one offers little, one invites a close look.
JUUN.J’s creative director within Samsung C&T Fashion Group, Jung Wook-jun, sums up the intention: “With this 27SS collection, we wanted to focus on the unique beauty that is born when different elements are layered and contrast with one another, and to express it.” A simple sentence that says the essential: beauty lies less in the elements than in what happens between them.
It is a rather rare creator’s position, one that gives up demonstration in favour of relation. It explains the choice of so vast a title: the cosmos is precisely the idea that everything holds together without merging.
It remains to see what this pocket cosmology looks like in motion, on bodies, in real light. For that is always where an order is verified: when contrasts cease to oppose and hold together.
