LOUIS ROEDERER PRESENTS CRISTAL VINOTHÈQUE 1999

THIRD VINTAGE OF THIS EXCEPTIONAL COLLECTION

THE FRUIT OF THE LABORATORY OF TIME, THE PROMISE OF ETERNAL YOUTH

Cristal Vinothèque represents the pinnacle of Champagne savoir-faire: twenty years of unique attention and gestures that propel a few bottles of Cristal’s greatest vintages to new heights of sophistication and excellence.

After 1995 and 1996, Louis Roederer unveils Cristal Vinothèque 1999, which, like its predecessors, displays a character all its own: incomparable freshness, the promise of eternal youth.

Cristal Vinothèque is the fruit of 20 years of tailor-made ageing in three successive phases.

An initial phase of eight to twelve years resting on the lees is necessary to give the champagne its structure and rich aromas. The lees give the wine its caressing texture and depth.

After riddling, the wine is left to rest for five to ten years. This is essential to slow down the aging process and prolong maturation, while preserving the original freshness that is the essence of Cristal Vinothèque.

Finally, after disgorging, a third and final phase begins, lasting two to six years, to allow the bubbles to become one with the material. In the heart of Louis Roederer’s cellars, beneath the rock where the water table runs just above, a silent, secret process begins. Total darkness and a temperature of 11 degrees provide the perfect conditions for the champagne to blossom and flourish.

Cellar Master Jean-Baptiste Lécaillon has conceived the various stages of this process as a constant dialogue between matter and time: he orchestrates their necessary encounter to such a level of mastery that the inexorable alteration that one operates on the other is slowed down and ultimately reinvented.

This tailor-made ageing and the choice of a late disgorgement give Cristal Vinothèque its singular identity and underpin the rarity of this exclusive cuvée: the wine exudes the notes of original Cristal, mingled with iodine and saline notes of surprising freshness. Neither really the same, nor really different. More than ever Cristal.

Cristal Vinothèque 1999 is available in white and rosé.
