As the summer light lingers a little longer each day in our daily routines, Clinique is introducing a new generation of sun care products designed to remain effective long after you shower—where most sunscreens stop working.
The promise lies in a subtle difference, but it changes everything: protecting against harmful UVA and UVB rays is no longer enough if that protection wears off the first time you cleanse your skin. Clinique’s new UV Solutions rely on antioxidant protection that lasts even after cleansing, thereby preventing premature aging caused by repeated sun exposure—whether from commutes, lunch breaks on a patio, or everyday activities, rather than just vacations.
The line comes in three textures designed for different skin needs. The Moisturizing version, priced at 33 euros for 40 ml, is for skin in need of comfort. The Mattifying version, at the same price and in the same size, is designed for combination to oily skin seeking a matte finish. Finally, the Tinted version, priced at 36.50 euros for 40 ml and available in five shades, offers sun protection that evens out the complexion without requiring an additional layer of foundation.
This approach reflects a broader shift in the cosmetics industry: sun protection is no longer limited to the summer months or vacations, but has become a fully integrated part of the daily skincare routine, just like a serum or moisturizer. Clinique, a brand historically built on a dermatological and clinical approach to skincare, is thus positioning itself less on the promise of controlled tanning and more on that of long-term prevention.
It remains to be seen whether this level of detail in the product lineup—three textures, three uses, three times of day—meets a real demand among consumers or whether it is part of a trend toward increasingly complex beauty routines, where every step now calls for its own dedicated product.
