This Sunday, Paris hosts the4th edition of the Cocktail Paris Festival. With the sound of shakers, spirits and alcohols poured to taste, the atmosphere is sure to be festive. The theme will be the Art of the Aperitif. A privileged moment, of real topicality in this season.

Professionals and discerning aesthetes will meet from 1:30 pm to 7:30 pm at the Carreau du Temple. There, they can discover prestigious spirits brands, take part in fun workshops, attend conferences and chat with bartenders such as Franky Marshall (ex Clover Club and Dead Rabit, New York), Ben Belmans (Bijou, Antwerp) and Leonardo Leuci (Jerry Thomas Speakeasy, Rome). New trends from around the world will be discussed, with a focus on Vintage spirits. Mixology will be in the spotlight.

Pop UP Bars will capture the public’s attention. Eight of the trendiest French and foreign bars will be on hand to showcase their ‘touch’ and specialities. Le Bijou (Antwerp), Le Candelaria (World’s 50 Best Bars 2014 Paris), Le Sherry Butt ((World’s 50 Best Bars 2013 Paris), and a few others should create a stir.

An exhibition will trace the history of the cocktail. Shakers, spoons, measuring glasses and other accessories will evoke the making of this precious beverage. One of the first American books on the subject (1862) will also be on display. A mini-bistro dating from the early 20th century will house rare spirits, highlighted by Karim Karroum, oenologist and expert in this field.

The 12th edition of the Trophées du Bar, will know its final. The ten finalists in the individual competition and the ten finalists in the team competition will face off before an international jury.

There’s no doubt that on Sunday, May 10, 2015, cocktails will be an art form.
