A new boutique hotel in the Palacio Can Marques
in the historic heart of Palma de Mallorca, nestles a restaurant
and bars that invite you to relax and enjoy!
< Welcoming all year round, Palma de Mallorca is a city that doesn’t wait for summer to exist. In the old town’s maze of narrow streets, medieval palaces stand side by side with stately homes, telling the story of the island’s history. Those who don’t fall under the spell of the old stones will certainly succumb to the fabulous gastronomy and the effervescence of the town’s bars.
Strolling through the pretty pedestrian streets of La Lonja, in Palma’s historic center, you venture into the narrow Calle Apuntadores. And behind the discreet front door of Palacio Can Marques, a new luxury boutique hotel opened in October 2018, you discover a spectacular patio and a magnificent 200 m² garden.
The Palacio Can Marques offers a restaurant with a warm bistro atmosphere, with direct access from Calle Apuntadores. Customers are welcomed in a vaulted room located in the palace’s former stables, where a drinking trough can still be found. Interior designer Aline Matsika designed a convivial space with comfortable taupe leather banquettes, and chose white porcelain installations by ceramist Marik Korus to adorn the walls.
The restaurant’s chef, Cédric Lebon, offers Mediterranean cuisine with a strong French accent, well worth the detour! Based in Mallorca for 15 years and married to a Spanish woman, the chef has previously worked all over the world, in Switzerland at the Montreux Palace, Kuwait, Dubai, Moscow and Jordan, where he worked in hotels in French gastronomy restaurants. The restaurant’s menu includes tapas to share (trio of croquettes, Iberian ham, tuna tataki…), fresh starters and salads; soups, from gazpacho to bouillabaisse, including onion soup, which is already a restaurant “must”. The menu also gives pride of place to fish and shellfish. Fish of the day is served with sea urchin beurre blanc, while lobster is prepared American-style. But chef Cédric Lebon also likes to work on his classic basics, proposing French dishes such as boeuf bourguignon, vol-au-vent, île flottante and crêpe suzette.
Ideally located, the restaurant is already a must for hotel guests and outside customers alike. But the Palacio Can Marques, whose patio – one of the most beautiful in Spain – is worth a visit in itself, is also a haven of peace right in the heart of Palma’s bustling center. The hotel offers no fewer than four places to relax and enjoy a drink. While the delightful garden planted with palm and olive trees is a very pleasant place to take tea, it’s in the Champagne Bar, located in the covered patio, that you can enjoy a glass of Lanson champagne. Upstairs, the terrace bar, overlooking Palma’s famous cathedral, is the perfect place to sip a cocktail as the sun sets. The restaurant also has a bar, which can be accessed directly from Calle Apuntadores.
The hotel is open all year round, except in January and February.
