A few days ago, we took advantage of a bird’s-eye view of Paris at the Shangri La to taste a product as rare as it is precious, the epitome of luxury: LOUIS XIII RARE Cask 42.6.

LOUIS XIII RARE Cask 42.6 is a rare expression of Rémy Martin’s most prestigious cognac. In its black Baccarat crystal bottle, set with a rose gold ring, we feel that we are preparing for a unique journey.
Made from century-old eaux de vie, this is the king of eaux de vie, the master of cognac to such an extent that it has become a symbol that can be found in Hollywood films such as The Butler, where a passage reveals just how exceptional this product crosses borders.

TASTING NOTES
The Robe
The multiple reflections and hues that dance in the light range from pronounced, flamboyant gold to marvellous mahogany highlights to fiery red. The tears that run up the glass and then slowly down again are a sign of the supreme opulence of this nectar.

The Bouquet
The first nose is rich and incredibly intense, thanks to the tierçons, the extremely rare casks several hundred years old in which the eaux-de-vie are aged. The second nose develops delicate floral notes, such as immortelle and iris, from the best of Grande Champagne. The third nose is rich in spicy tones, such as ginger or nutmeg, from aging in Limousin oak barrels. Numerous other sensations gradually reveal themselves, ranging from the finest finesse to supreme opulence. An alchemy rigorously pursued in each eau-de-vie selected for its production.
Once in the mouth, it’s ecstasy, fireworks, a pleasure I’ve never experienced with any other eau-de-vie or drink. A succession of sensations, finesse and spices.
Intense aromas that linger in the mouth for over an hour after tasting.

Recommended retail price €18,000
