In the heart of Saint-Émilion’s prestigious hillsides, in a terroir that has to be earned, a “badly shaped” terrain made of hollows and bumps, Château Godeau rubs shoulders with illustrious neighbors such as La Mondotte and Tertre Roteboeuf. Acquired by Agnès and Albéric Florisoone, former co-owners of Château Calon Ségur, this 6-hectare jewel in the Saint-Émilion Grand Cru appellation, almost unknown until recently, is already becoming famous. A short presentation of Château Godeau Ducarpe Grand Cru 2011.
As Agnès and Albéric Florisoone like to say, “We take full responsibility for our second wine,” because it’s not a question of “downgrading” the lesser vats. A worthy younger brother to Château Godeau, it comes from the same hillsides but is made from younger vines. Its ageing is also different: 10 months for 20% in new barrels and 80% in barrels of 1 and 2 wines. It is appreciated for its freshness and fruitiness.
The 2011 vintage has an expressive expressive nose dominated by spices: pepper, chili, mint and a touch of empyreumatic touch. On the palate, the attack is broad, with half-body structure, while the second half is firmer and more virile.

Married for 10 years, Agnès and Albéric are now the parents of 3 children, Domitille, Côme and Timothée.
