The reissue of the famous 1922 perfume CHRISTMAS NIGHT

Fairy night, gaiety, meditation and sharing

Christmas Night immerses us in the enchanting mystery of the night of December 24.

“A perfume contrasted between the exceptional complexity

of May rose absolute and the leathery, floral note of Saxony moss,

amber, floral note of Saxony moss.”

The 100 Years Limited Edition
CARON celebrates in 2022 the 100th anniversary of an iconic scent, La Nuit de Noël, and reissues this fragrance in its original box.
Jean JACQUES, the House’s perfumer, has faithfully recreated the 1922 fragrance, using an extract from CARON’s heritage.
This boxed set is produced in 100 unique copies. The opaque black glass bottle is numbered with a fine gold engraving.

The story
In 1922, Europe was in a frenzy of parties and escapism. Witness of these crazy years, Félicie WAMPOUILLE suggests to Ernest DALTROFF a creation on the sacred theme of the night of December 24th, a fairy night, synonymous with gaiety, recollection and sharing. Ernest then imagines an extract with a chypre floral and woody trail, a rich and complex fragrance, where jasmine, rose, ylang-ylang and precious woods mingle.

The fragrance
On the floral side, an exceptionally complex rose de Mai de Grasse absolute blends with an Egyptian jasmine absolute. These two powerful materials are supported by the spicy foral notes of carnation, the powdery of lilac and the sensuality of vanilla and musk notes. On the chypre side, the leathery, ambery, floral note of Saxony moss blends with the woody essences of Mysore sandalwood and Haiti vetiver. They are supported by the absolute moss of Oak and the essence of patchouli Indonesia.

In order to be as close as possible to the original version, Jean JACQUES has integrated into the formula several accords present in the perfumes of the beginning of the 20th century, including the famous Saxony moss, overdosed at 12% in this perfume. A note recognizable by its leathery, ambery, floral notes, which calls upon all the great naturals of the time: rose, jasmine, ylang ylang, oakmoss, patchouli, leather, vetiver.
The bottle

Made of totally opaque black glass, the bottle of La Nuit de Noël evokes the enchanting mystery of the night of December 24.

The extreme sobriety of the bottle is enhanced by a golden band, similar to the one worn by women in 1922 following the fashion of the Roaring Twenties. The case is designed on the model of the Japanese Inrô box. It is covered with a jade green paper decorated with a stingray pattern and adorned with a pompom in trimmings. The set is presented in a burgundy box with the colors of the House CARON.
The duality

La Nuit de Noël is one of the first perfumes to dare to overdose with Saxony moss, up to 12% of the formula. Its leathery, amber and floral notes are mixed with those of an extremely opulent Rose de Mai absolute from Grasse.
Did you know?

When it was launched, La Nuit de Noël aroused real enthusiasm in New York and the fragrance was found in social places such as jazz clubs and music-hall venues. The Americans will prefer to call it Christmas Eve.
