An astonishing winemaker in the southern Rhône Valley, Xavier Vignon’s creations are often original, parcel-based and multi-vintage.
This year is no exception, with the creation of a new orange wine, certainly one of those closest to his heart.
Xavier is also a globe-trotting winemaker who has vinified in many countries from which he has brought back many secrets, techniques and desires.
Here, Vermentino and Viognier, grown on limestone scree at an altitude of over 300 meters in the unique setting of the Dentelles de Montmirail, combine the fullness and balance of one with the aromatic, gourmet exuberance of the other.
Amphorae, often used, have been replaced by wine globes, large glass containers that help preserve freshness and acidity, and some of the wine passes through the vinarium ®, a barrel created by Xavier Vignon in which other, smaller barrels are immersed, allowing the wine to age in wine, as if in the heart of a matrix.
A stunning wine from an author, this orange wine offers magnificent notes of dried apricots with a hint of honey and floral aromas. The unctuous and enveloping mouth is supported by a superb acid tension.
This wine is available in wine shops and online at a price of 12 euros ttc.
