At a party in Paris, the famous singer Will.i.am unveiled his unique and personal interpretation of the design of the new Lexus NX.
This special edition NX 200t F SPORT is a fine blend of Will.i.am’s talent and creativity and the surprising design of the Lexus NX.
Featuring ultra-sophisticated on-board technologies and a radical, aggressive and sporty exterior, the NX targets a young, urban and more design-conscious clientele.
Commenting on this special edition will.i.am said: “My first reaction to Lexus’ request to participate in the ‘Striking Angles’ campaign was to see if I could design a car with them. It’s an honor to be able to present my own version of the Lexus NX F SPORT in Paris, with an innovative design that embodies my personal style. In my opinion, offering the best in design also encourages people to give their own interpretation of it.”
ULTRA-SOPHISTICATED TECHNOLOGIES
Among other innovations, the NX, designed exclusively by will.i.am, features a system for capturing panoramic images and videos while driving, thanks to four 180-degree cameras integrated into the customized body kit. Images are transmitted instantly via Bluetooth to the driver’s or passenger’s smartphone screen.
In line with the growing trend towards owning multiple mobile devices, this exclusive vehicle also features the Lexus NX’s patented wireless charging box. Located in the central armrest, this innovative system enables compatible smartphones or portable devices to be charged wirelessly simply by placing them on the box.
The audio system equipping this sporty version of the SUV had to be of premium quality, in keeping with the talent of an artist with several platinum albums to his name. It’s the Lexus NX’s 10-speaker Pioneer Surround Sound system, with 16 cm speakers housed in the front and rear door panels and a set of speakers integrated into the dashboard.
Under the hood is the all-new Lexus 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with VVT-iW intelligent variable valve timing, delivering 238 hp and 350 Nm of torque between 1,650 and 4,000 rpm. Coupled with a 6-speed automatic transmission, it enables the NX to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.1 seconds and from 80 to 120 km/h in 6.0 seconds.
EXTERIOR
Will.i.am has brought his personal touch to the surprising exterior styling of the NX to offer a lowered, wider and even more muscular version. The body blends a spectacular palette of materials, from brushed aluminum to carbon vinyl film, as well as will.i.am’s signature monochrome matte pearl white, all combined with a panoramic glass roof in black. The powerful front and rear fenders come together to form a diamond-shaped cabin, with the main lines running from the front grille.
This exclusive version, closer to the ground, is set on imposing 22″ alloy wheels. They feature a luminous black surface treatment that brings out the bright orange of the brake calipers.
INTERIOR
The vehicle’s bespoke interior plays on the contrast between brushed aluminum, synonymous with high performance, and soft materials to create a bold yet luxurious interior ambience. The artist’s signature monochrome hue also dominates the cabin, accentuating the coherence and purity expressed by the vehicle.
The leather seats, in a modified version and adorned with the famous #willpower logo, provide the ideal introduction to the Lexus NX’s innovative center console and bespoke steering wheel. The musician himself chose the luxurious nappa leather and brushed aluminum flooring.
