In the land of Margaux

A few weeks ago, we once again joined the Club des Vins Nicolas for an exceptional adventure in Bordeaux. We headed to Bordeaux for an intensive day of surprises and discoveries in the Margaux appellation, one of the world’s best-loved and best-known. Beyond the appellation, it was also a family we were about to discover: the Lurton family, who carry on the tradition of Lucien Lurton, a Bordeaux legend.

We start with Chateau Desmirail. For years, the Margaux terroir has produced elegant, smooth wines. Château Desmirail, the third Grand Cru Classé, is a perfect example. Situated on the edge of the famous Route des Châteaux, its wine enjoys an exceptional location. From vintage to vintage, Chateau Desmirail expresses all the richness and delicate palettes of the Margaux terroir.

After lunch, we discover Château Dufort-Vivens. The jewel in the Lurton family crown, Château Dufort-Vivens is a Second Grand Cru Classé that exudes all the carme of the Margaux appellation. Developed using demanding biodynamic viticultural techniques, Château Dufort-Vivens is in the process of being completely modernized. This does not detract from the classicism that gives it its fresh, intense bouquet.

We end the day at Château Brane-Cantenac. From one of the Médoc’s greatest terroirs, Château Brane-Cantenac, Deuxième Grand Cru Classé, is a living product in perpetual evolution. Since 1992, Henri Lurton has worked the vineyards to produce the very best wines. Racy, aromatic, complex and balanced, the work put into the wine produces results of excellence.
