Caissin: fine wines for lasting gifts

DSCF2701-r-caissin-pierreHow about turning wine into a sustainable gift? Pierre Dietrich and his two companions Alexandre Bacco and Joachim Werner have come up with this idea in a bold and original way through the Caissin company, which we discovered last month. Going against the grain of the consumerist era and the prevailing disenchantment, this start-up like no other is gradually making its mark on the wine trade by advocating solidarity, exchange and quality. An innovative concept that will give meaning to your gifts and brighten up the festive season!

A passion, an idea

Buoyed by an unrivalled drive and Caissin founder Pierre’s passion for wine, the trio set out in March 2013 to trade in wooden boxes containing a selection of vintages from renowned estates. Inspired by the births in his family, Pierre describes this desire as born of a desire “to do away with ephemeral gifts” that are quickly forgotten, and often remain in the cupboard. Offering quality wines for ageing, available within two years, the caissin would be the ideal gift for a birth, a wedding, or any branded event that you want to enhance over time. What’s more? Caissin offers the possibility of completely personalizing these surprise boxes, allowing us to engrave the recipient’s first and last names, the date and a personal dedication inside. A passion for business: Pierre, brought up in the love of wine with a father who was a winegrower and a brother who was an oenologist, has surrounded himself with “pearls”, as he puts it, to build a new company that looks to the future and tradition at the same time.

A total investment

Caissin also stands out for the importance of contact and solidarity. In fact, in addition to democratizing “good wine” by making it accessible thanks to the delivery service and reasonable costs – the Le Classique selection, for example, is offered at €189.00, including six great wines such as a Saint Georges Saint-Emilion, a Sauternes and a Mercurey1er cru, delivery included – the team puts a premium on “made in France” and regularly goes out to meet its producers. The company “takes over from small winegrowers”, enabling them to build customer loyalty while highlighting the quality of their products. It’s an original approach to solidarity, punctuated by genuine support for customers, who receive a note of advice as soon as they receive their box, “which gets away from the trite phrases that lose customers,” explains Pierre. It’s an innovative concept that adapts brilliantly to the traditional market, while remaining true to the French tradition of “proximity”.

Unique selections

Thanks to this trio of enthusiasts, Caissin is dusting off the wine industry and opening the doors to a largely unknown world. Alexandre the engineer, Joachim the designer and Pierre the salesman, all three of whom love wine and travel, have had the opportunity to travel around the world and discover French know-how with fresh eyes. A godsend for initiates and beginners alike, eager for new discoveries and in love with taste. But why French wine? Two reasons, explains Pierre Dietrich. The first is ecological: to avoid the proliferation of transport – even if, victims of their own success, many orders are starting to come in from abroad. The second is personal: to showcase the richness of different regions, and thus open the eyes and seduce the palates of newcomers!

An adventure that’s only just begun for Caissin, who for Christmas are launching 72-hour express deliveries of 2011 vintage grands crus. Keen to brighten up our festive season, this start-up never ceases to amaze, and seems to be making up for it by talking to customers and producers just like in the good old days…
