Swiss Haute Horlogerie manufacturer Audemars Piguet is proud to open its new temporary exhibition “Extraordinary Friendships” to the public at the Musée Atelier Audemars Piguet in Le Brassus (Switzerland). Included in the guided tour of the museum, this immersive exhibition takes visitors on an interactive journey to discover some of the enduring collaborations and friendships that have marked the history of Audemars Piguet. On view until December 17, 2021.

EXTRAORDINARY FRIENDSHIPS

Since its creation, Audemars Piguet has sought inspiration beyond Haute Horlogerie, regularly drawing on pop culture, sport, art and the entertainment industry. Over the years, the brand has developed interdisciplinary partnerships with celebrities and athletes from different backgrounds. These collaborations have nurtured the Manufacture’s creativity, driving innovation in terms of the design and technical prowess of its watches, but they have also helped to convey its core values through the language of emotions.

THE EXHIBITION

This retrospective highlights nine talented personalities who have contributed to the brand’s worldwide recognition. Highlights include T-800, the mythical robot from the Terminator films, representing the long friendship between Arnold Schwarzenegger and Audemars Piguet, recipes by three Michelin-starred chef Emmanuel Renault, and the reconstruction of a dressing room featuring some of Serena Williams’ personal effects.
“Extraordinary Friendships” also features a room inspired by the Black Panther universe to celebrate the launch of the limited-edition Royal Oak Concept “Black Panther” Flying Tourbillon, which marks the beginning of a new long-term collaboration with Marvel Entertainment. This dedicated space immerses visitors in an interactive sound and visual environment that takes them behind the scenes of the long-standing friendship between François-Henry Bennahmias and Don Cheadle, aka War Machine on the screen, which made it possible to begin this new adventure. A paper forest inspired by the landscapes of Wakanda ensures complete immersion in the comic book universe.

IMMERSIVE SCENOGRAPHY

The staging of the exhibition combines interactivity and interdisciplinarity to bring visitors as close as possible to the friendships forged by Audemars Piguet. Along the way, visitors can trigger the narration of each of the stories themselves, whether by activating a music box or demonstrating their talents as a golfer or chef.
An interactive photo booth puts visitors in the spotlight, allowing them to contribute to the Audemars Piguet family album.

INCLUDED IN THE MUSEUM EXPERIENCE WORKSHOP

This temporary exhibition is part of the guided tour of the Musée Atelier, which opened to the public in June 2020. Designed by BIG (Bjarke Ingels Group), the Musée Atelier brings together the original workshop in which Audemars Piguet’s founders set up shop in 1875 and a new contemporary structure composed of two glass spirals that blend harmoniously into the natural landscape. Offering a unique perspective on the Vallée de Joux and the watchmaking tradition that has been perpetuated here for generations, the Musée Atelier brings together 300 timepieces that retrace two centuries of exceptional craftsmanship. Production workshops installed at the heart of the spiral also enable visitors to appreciate some of the Manufacture’s craftsmen at work.
Located in the vaulted basement of the Founders’ House, the temporary exhibition invites visitors to discover the brand’s links with the world. It also invites visitors to meet the famous architect Bjarke Ingels, who designed the museum’s glass spiral. Come and experience.
