Premier Grand Cru Classé de Saint-Émilion, Château La Gaffelière’s reputation has spanned the centuries. Nestled between the hills of Pavie and Ausone, Château La Gaffelière’s vineyards cover 38 hectares in production, with an average vine age of 35 years and an average yield of 31 hl/ha. The south-facing plots are spread over the three terroirs specific to Saint-Emilion: the limestone plateau, the clay-limestone hillside and the siliceous foot of the hillside.

Over the past fifteen years, numerous investments have been made, notably the repositioning of the vineyard begun in 2001 and the construction of a new vat room, inaugurated in 2013, which enables precise parcel-based vinification. La Gaffelière’s farming practices are in line with a sustainable agriculture approach.

La Gaffelière 2016 is a blend of 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc. The wine has a very dark, deep color. The nose is highly aromatic, evoking black fruits. The palate is structured, with fine, elegant tannins and a beautiful finish highlighted by spices and fine woody notes.

Château La Gaffelière 2016, Premier Grand Cru Classé de Saint-Emilion, is available from wine merchants at an average price of €80.
