El Diablo Box
Cartoon & Junk Food
From October 9 to November 7, 2015,
the young and dynamic Galerie Lacroix will host the exhibition Origins by Jaek El Diablo, taking us back to the New York of the ’80s.To mark the occasion, the gallery will launch its first artist’s edition, the El Diablo Box.
The ‘
El Diablo Box’,
pizza box, signed, numbered and designed by the artist, contains an original work of art, a print on aluminum and some goodies, all in the spirit of
Junk-Food & Cartoon spirit.
The exhibition is conceived as a journey back in time, to the days when graffiti and B-BOYs rubbed shoulders on the streets of NYC, when the sounds of Grand Master Flash echoed through the subway corridors. “It’s Like a jungle sometimes…”.
A gallery of mostly spray-painted portraits will feature Oldschool characters straight out of the urban jungle, and cartoons from popular culture.
Galerie Lacroix,
An unusual place in the heart of Belleville
The artists represented by Galerie Lacroix share dynamic, lively and colorful universes that draw their inspiration from literature (comics, manga, heroic fantasy, etc.), cartoons, films, TV series and video games.

References to symbols of consumer society, their creations reveal the narrative and aesthetic richness of mainstream entertainment. Long considered a subculture, they have now acquired a new legitimacy.

The gallery features works from a wide range of emerging artistic trends:

Graffiti / Superflat / Geek Art / Art Toys / Photography / Sculpture / Editions d’Objets d’Art
