Proenza Schouler Spring-Summer 2027: Rachel Scott designs a mobile wardrobe

For Spring-Summer 2027, Rachel Scott continues at Proenza Schouler a reflection already under way on the authority of clothing. The collection here takes another path: that of a wardrobe able to change its bearing without changing its nature, where a dress can relax and an everyday piece gain in hold. The point is not the effect of surprise, but the possibility of moving with the clothes.

A construction that follows the body

Rounded volumes, draping and the seams that shape the dresses give the silhouette a measured suppleness. Stripes turn around the body, merino knits shift off-centre, and transparent layers give rise to intermediate colours. This vocabulary extends the designer’s work, whose arrival as creative director had opened a new chapter for the house.

The contrast between sharp lines and more mobile materials organises the whole. Fluorescent pink cotton velvet, ecru denim printed with a technique drawn from the archives, intarsias and pleats make up a proposal concerned less with ornament than with what it does to movement. The tiger appears through knitwear, pleated silk or sequins; the rose, the only floral motif announced, comes through cyanotype and then pigment printing.

The PS1 becomes Walker

The PS1 becomes Walker

Presented with the collection, the PS1 Walker evolves a major Proenza Schouler code. The PS1’s clasp and straps remain, but the structure loosens: the rigid handle becomes a softer shoulder strap, while the flap keeps the outline of the diamond-shaped tab as a recess. The name refers to Walker Street, where the house’s first studio was located, and anchors this shift in a concrete New York memory.

The choice of Reed Krakoff for this reinterpretation gives the project a particular measure. Rather than starting the PS1 over, the Walker keeps its essential signs and adapts them to more everyday use. It will be offered in three sizes, Mini, Medium and Large; pre-order is announced for 19 September 2026, ahead of arrival in stores and online in January 2027.

This tension between heritage and mobility was already present in our reading of Autumn 2026. Spring-Summer 2027 makes it more explicit: the clothing does not impose an attitude, it leaves the wearer the possibility of building her own.
