Some collections embody an era. And others that reinvent it. With the new TAG Heuer Formula 1 Solargraph 38mm line, TAG Heuer makes a subtle shift from a world historically rooted in performance to a more contemporary, chromatic, almost emotional interpretation.
Since 1986, the Formula 1 has embodied TAG Heuer’s entry into a territory where speed, accessibility and design interact with a certain idea of sport. A watch designed to accompany movement, but also to convey a recognizable aesthetic.
Today, this identity is evolving.
The Solargraph 38 mm collection introduces an unexpected pastel palette – mint green, sky blue, powder pink, solar beige – that softens the watch’s technical lines. A visual tension immediately perceptible in the visuals (pages 1, 4 and 10), where the robustness of the case contrasts with the softness of the colors.
A balance of energy and lightness.
But beyond color, it’s the material that structures this evolution. The models alternate between sandblasted steel and TH-Polylight, an innovative material that is light, resistant and visually contemporary. The bracelets, in steel or textured polymer, extend this feeling of comfort and modernity.
At the heart of the watch is Solargraph technology.
Powered by solar energy, it embodies a more sustainable approach to watchmaking. A few minutes’ exposure to light is enough to power the watch for an entire day, while a full charge provides several months’ autonomy. A discreet but pertinent response to contemporary expectations.
As for the dial, it plays on details.
Applied hour-markers, luminescent hands, Super-LumiNova touches: every element is designed to maintain legibility while preserving a certain elegance. A sporty watch, yes, but never rough.
This duality is reflected in the overall construction of the collection.
Steel models, priced at around €2,800, offer a more classic, watchmaking interpretation. Versions in TH-Polylight, at around €1,950, introduce a more playful, almost lifestyle dimension (see technical data sheets on pages 6 to 10).
Some editions are limited to 5,000 pieces, reinforcing their collectability while remaining affordable. A strategy consistent with Formula 1 DNA: democratize without trivializing.
What’s really striking is the change in tone.
TAG Heuer doesn’t renounce its racing heritage – it reinterprets it. Speed is no longer merely mechanical, it becomes visual. Intensity is no longer only about performance, but also about color, texture and light.
In a watchmaking landscape often dominated by the repetition of codes, this collection introduces a breath of fresh air.
A reminder that a watch can be both precise and expressive.
