In Castellare-di-Casinca, the Domaine Santa Margherita offers a more leisurely way to experience Corsica. Just ten minutes from the Bastia airport, yet far from the summer hustle and bustle, this 4-star hotel boasts a rare location: between the sea and the mountains, at an elevation of 200 meters.
Opened last summer, the estate was designed by Jean-Marc Giammari and his daughter Alba Giammari. It features just 10 suites, each designed to resemble a village house with a terrace. The materials used reflect the property’s regional roots: Orezza stone, chestnut wood, Corsican loggias, sage- and ochre-colored stucco, Cotto Estrusco floors, and Italian ceramic tiles.
Casinca is described as an off-the-beaten-path region, featuring wild beaches, hilltop villages, chestnut groves, scrubland, and views of the Tyrrhenian Sea. The nearby village of Penta-di-Casinca is cited as the only village in Corsica to be fully designated a “Picturesque Site.”
The hotel is open year-round. Rates start at 250 euros per night, excluding breakfast. In the kitchen, Chef Damien Poslenki creates local cuisine using ingredients from regional producers.
