The Royal Versailles Ball: Versailles as a Diplomatic Stage

The Royal Versailles Ball 2026 brought together more than a thousand international guests at the Palace of Versailles for a three-day celebration dedicated to Franco-British heritage, diplomacy, and philanthropy.

The event pays tribute to Napoleon III’s 1855 ball, which Queen Victoria attended as a guest of honor. This reference lends the ball a sense of historical depth: it is not merely a gala evening, but a celebration of the cultural bond between the two countries.

The program began with a private dinner at Pavillon Ledoyen, hosted by Yannick Alléno, followed by a VIP reception at the Hôtel de Charost, the British ambassador’s residence. The highlight of the evening took place at Versailles, featuring musical performances in the Hall of Mirrors, dinner in the Orangery, traditional dances, and fireworks.

The proceeds will go to The King’s Foundation, Room to Read, and the Franco-British Foundation of Sillery, which focus on education, sustainability, and mental health. The list of partners—from Bonhams to Bvlgari, Valentino, Manolo Blahnik, Garrard, Lalique, and Le Meurice—underscores the event’s soft power impact.
