As we already knew, Maison Martin Margiela and rapper Kanye West have a great love affair. While the latter is the talk of the town, especially this morning for his proposal of marriage to reality TV queen Kim Kardashian, he has a very close relationship with Parisian fashion.
Kanye West has also tried, alas without much success, to create ready-to-wear collections of his own, but diversifying is a difficult exercise – some manage it brilliantly, like Victoria Beckham, and others don’t. Nevertheless, Kanye West remains fascinated by the Margiela universe, and even his girlfriend was converted in the latest issue of CR Fashion Book by wearing a mask from the “Artisanale” (haute-couture) collection.
For his Yeezus Tour, it didn’t take much for Kanye West to decide to wear Martin Margiela, featuring some of the Maison’s most intricate and original pieces. The garments were reinterpreted from the Margiela archives and handcrafted in the Paris workshops especially for the rapper’s tour, along with a pair of sneakers designed exclusively for the event.
After an A.P.C and Kanye West collaboration, can we expect one with Maison Martin Margiela? We’re keeping our fingers crossed!
