Over the decades, Marilyn Monroe has fascinated the world. She is more than just a Hollywood sex symbol; she has become a legend, an enigma to be deciphered. Returning to Galerie Joseph from October 21 to November 21, 2023, L’Expérience Monroe promises total immersion in the mystical, bewitching universe of this icon.
An autobiography as a common thread
The starting point for this immersive experience is Marilyn Monroe’s only autobiography, entitled “Unfinished Confession”. This text sheds light on Monroe’s complex character from intimate, feminist and political angles. To mark the 60th anniversary of her death, this fascinating text has been adapted into a graphic novel by Sandrine Revel and Stéphanie Sphyras.
The Installation: A Digital and Poetic Journey
The sound, music, text and visual installation offers a digital and poetic journey into the world of Monroe. It includes an exclusive interview with Amy Greene, Marilyn’s friend and wife of Milton Greene, and a testimonial by Adrien Gombeaud, film critic and author of the book “Une blonde à Manhattan”.
Memory Box VR: A Sensitive Immersion
Equipped with a VR headset, visitors immerse themselves in a multi-sensory experience. Sensitive Monroe memories – audio, visual, textual and graphic – are activated in the presence of visitors, offering a unique encounter with the star.
On Stage: The Icon Revisited
Stéphanie Sphyras recounts the life of Norma Jeane Baker, better known by her stage name, Marilyn Monroe, with tenderness and accuracy. Based on “Unfinished Confession”, this play aims to restore this media icon to her status as a complex, multifaceted woman.
Certains l’Aiment Froid: A Series in the Making
Visitors will also be able to discover the “Certains l’Aiment Froid” series, scheduled for filming in 2024. Selected for the Festival International de Valence, the Festival de la Rochelle, and the Prix Gloria at the Festival Série Séries, the series offers visitors the chance to take part in a “Marilyn” quiz, and perhaps land a role.
The gallery is open daily from 11am to 7pm. Prices range from 12 to 15 euros, with an additional 7 euros for the virtual reality experience.
