Glenglassaugh Octaves Peated Batch 2

Located on the shores of the magnificent Sandend Bay, Glenglassaugh is the most maritime of the Highland distilleries. The distillery produces some of the most original and distinctive whiskies in the world, whose essence is influenced by its exceptional location at the crossroads of Speyside and the Highlands, on the North Sea.
Aging in octaves – barrels eight times smaller in capacity than Bourbon barrels – allows greater and faster exchange between wood and liquid.
For example, Glenglassaugh Octaves Peated Batch 2 quickly reveals the influence of the Bourbon, Port and Sherry casks used to build the octave, and reveals a slightly saline note brought on by ageing by the sea.
Honey-gold in color, the nose offers a subtle balance between sea-salted smoke and notes of salted caramel shortbread, spicy chocolate and wood. On the palate, notes of apricot, ginger and mango follow through to smoky bacon and paprika-spiced yellow plum. The finish is rich, offering aromas of roasted nuts and spicy fruit, punctuated by a light salinity.
