2013 was marked by capricious weather. After a rainy, wet and cold spring, the summer was dry and hot. More than ever, therefore, this vintage demanded great subtlety and cutting-edge technical know-how to obtain this very fine wine.*
At Château Lilian Ladouys, Cru Bourgeois de Saint-Estèphe, every effort is made in the vineyard to ensure good distribution and aeration of the grapes: window pruning, splitting and leaf removal are all carried out throughout the year. In 2013, hand-picking took place from September 30 to October 11, followed by manual sorting of bunches and berries.
After gravity-fed vatting without crushing, cold pre-fermentation maceration is carried out. The semi-buried vat room built in 2009 enables us to carry out delestage operations in the vinification vats by gravity. This allows for gentle extraction of the grapes, while preserving the fruity aromas. The vatting period is long. Finally, Château Lilian Ladouys 2013 was aged for 14 months, 33% in new barrels. Château Lilian Ladouys 2013 is a blend of 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon. Deep, intense in color, it reveals a lovely floral nose. On the palate, it is fresh, with silky tannins and fresh fruit aromas.
Château Lilian Ladouys 2013 is available from all good wine merchants at an average retail price of €18.
