The collaboration between Xiaomi and Leica Camera AG reaches new heights with the launch of the Xiaomi 13 Ultra, a high-end smartphone that revolutionizes mobile photography. The device incorporates the two giants’ most advanced technologies, including a four-camera system and the most sophisticated Leica Summicron lens ever integrated into a smartphone.
The Xiaomi 13 Ultra stands out for its 1-inch variable-aperture main camera, inspired by Leica’s legendary M-series lenses. Marius Eschweiler, Vice President of the Mobile Business Unit Leica Camera AG, points out that this camera is a true flagship of the series, offering an unrivalled mobile photography experience. Users will enjoy smooth zooming and a focal length range from 12 to 120 mm, thanks to the four cameras that cover this range.
The one-inch IMX989 sensor and variable aperture of the main camera allow precise control of light and depth of field. The Xiaomi 13 Ultra also features a “Fastshot mode” inspired by the “hyperfocal” shooting method commonly used by street photographers.
Leica fans will be able to choose between two different image profiles that are new to the smartphone sector: the “Leica Authentic Look” and the “Leica Vibrant Look”. The former focuses on aesthetic, natural color reproduction, while the latter, developed jointly with Xiaomi, captures vivid yet realistic colors.
Thanks to the Xiaomi image processor, the 13 series offers the most powerful photographic processing capability of any of the brand’s high-end cameras. Professional photographers will enjoy great creative freedom, with a professional mode offering manual settings, photo support in 14-bit RAW format, as well as Dolby Vision 4K 10-bit HDR video and 4K LOG video.
The Xiaomi 13 Ultra will be available from April 21 in mainland China and in the coming months internationally.
