Betsy Beer tasting on Cathay Pacific flights between Hong Kong and Paris in May and June
Cathay Pacific continues to promote its premium craft beer, “Betsy Beer”, specially brewed to be enjoyed at 35,000 feet, by offering it to passengers over the coming months on flights between Hong Kong and Europe, Canada, the USA, Japan, New Zealand and Tel Aviv.
The name “Betsy Beer” comes from Cathay Pacific’s first aircraft, a Douglas DC-3, which carried passengers in the Hong Kong region in the 1940s and 1950s. Betsy Beer”, produced in collaboration with Hong Kong Beer Co, was first offered in March on flights between Hong Kong and the UK (Heathrow, Gatwick and Manchester), then to Australia in April.

In addition to the Cathay Pacific flights listed above, “Betsy Beer” will be available in selected Hong Kong restaurants and bars, including Kowloon Taproom, Zhang Men Craft Brewery, The Globe, Coedo Taproom and Corner Stop Bar & Cafe, while stocks last. It will also be available to buy online in Hong Kong via Deli Delight: www.deli-delight.com .

Julian Lyden, General Manager Marketing – Loyalty Programme & CRM at Cathay Pacific, said: “We pay close attention to our customers’ feedback, and the message has been very clear: they want to enjoy Betsy Beer even more, and we’re delighted to be responding to their request. The feedback from our customers following its launch has been extremely positive. Betsy Beer is an excellent example of what we mean by “travelling well “*. It’s a quality product, exclusively designed with travelers and beer lovers in mind.”
To combat the adverse effects of altitude on the taste buds of in-flight passengers, “Betsy Beer” was created by combining traditional brewing methods with science. The recipe for this aromatic beer, based on ingredients from Hong Kong and the UK, has been developed with a subtle dosage of carbonation so that the beer can be enjoyed both on the ground and in the air.
The “Longane” or “Dragon’s Eye” fruit lends a unique characteristic to the beverage. Known for its aromatic properties, it lends roundness and richness to the texture, bringing a distinctive character to the beer. This flavor is further enhanced by the incorporation of honey from the New Territories into the brewing process, giving pleasant floral notes. Also, the use of Fuggle, a high-quality hop used in traditional British craft beers, provides a pleasantly earthy, full-bodied flavor.
