Château La Dominique, a 29-hectare Grand Cru Classé in Saint-Emilion, extends over anexceptional terroiralongside the prestigious Châteaux Cheval Blanc, Figeac, La Conseillante and l’Evangile. The first property acquired by Clément Fayat in 1969, it is the flagship of his vineyards. The estate perfectly combines the authenticity of an 18th-century residence with the modernity of a winery designed by the eminent architect Jean Nouvel. The new high-precision facilities welcomed their first vintage in 2013.
A blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, the wines benefit from the guidance of Michel Rolland. A rainy, cold spring, followed by a dry summer, slowed the vegetative cycle of the vines. 2012 will be remembered as an atypical year.
Château La Dominique 2012 is a blend of 95% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc. After being harvested entirely by hand, the grapes are transferred to thermo-regulated stainless steel tanks. For 16 months, the wines are aged in barrels, 60% of which are renewed.
Château La Dominique 2012 has a dark purple color. On the nose, this wine reveals marked notes of red and black fruits. On the palate, this cuvée reveals great freshness, elegant fruit, well-integrated ageing and fine tannins .
