Harry Winston Project Z10

Light, technical and striking, Harry Winston’s Project Z10 continues a long line of exceptional timepieces. With its openworked dial in blue-anodized aluminum, Project Z10 takes mechanical aesthetics to the extreme. It features a double retrograde display in an ultra-light case. Its case, made entirely of ZaliumTM, an alloy exclusive to the House of Harry Winston, is focused on ergonomics and comfort. An exclusive timepiece with complications, it asserts its highly technical nature while remaining designed for action and everyday use.
For its 10th creation, Harry Winston’s Project Z series evolves towards an even more pronounced mechanical aesthetic. Project Z10 showcases its bi-retrograde self-winding movement through an extremely openworked dial, whose skeletonized structure reveals its meticulous finishing. This technically-intensive design is inspired by the Manhattan Bridge, an ambitious work from the early days of steel, and builds on the identifying elements of the Project Z series in terms of case, bracelet, dial, display and movement.
The Project Z10 case is cut from a block of ZaliumTM, a unique, ultra-light alloy and exclusive property of the House of Harry Winston, and is mounted on a bi-material bracelet marked with the Shuriken, whose black rubber structure is combined with a central strip of blue alligator. This play of materials reinforces the exclusive character of this new 42.2 mm-diameter creation.
A sense of structure
The dial of Project Z10 reveals the intensely mechanical nature of this timepiece at first glance. Hours and minutes are off-center, a trait typical of Harry Winston watchmaking, and a fortiori of Project Zs. The hour and minute counters feature a black grid and a satin-finish black hour-circle, punctuated by rhodium-plated hour-markers. The movement is visible and fully decorated with a sunray spiral centered on the hour and minute hands.
The extremely slender openworked dial frame of this timepiece, made of intensely blue anodized aluminum, is a showcase for the beauty of metal. Project Z10 is thus dominated by a play of colors between the powerful gray of the ZaliumTM and the blue of the dial structures.

The mechanics in the foreground
Project Z10 transposes the language of movement to the visible parts of the piece. Top and bottom meet in a common use of finishes and shapes. The openworked structure of the dial has a genuine load-bearing role, supporting all indications.
In addition to off-centering the hours, caliber HW3305 displays the day of the week at 4 o’clock. At 8 o’clock, it displays the seconds on a scale graduated from 0 to 30. These two indications are of a special type that lies at the heart of the Project Z identity: they are retrograde. Their hands travel through a 120-degree graduated sector instead of making a complete revolution. At the end of their journey, they automatically jump back to resume their course.
Project Z10 hides almost nothing about the functional elements that perform these mechanical operations. In particular, the rake that steers the seconds hand, a distinctive design element, is perfectly visible. The technicality of this timepiece is not just a choice of design, it is also its nature. In fact, this caliber is regulated by a silicon balance spring, which guarantees exceptional, stable running accuracy over the long term.
Continuity and performance
By asserting its complication, highlighting its components and asserting its mechanical and metallic soul, Project Z10 is a reminder of just how remarkable the Project Z series is. It has endured with a consummate sense of continuity and consistency for 10 years. Its 300 limited-edition pieces combine spectacular looks, original displays, light weight and exceptional wearing comfort.
