Rado breaks new ground with a sleek, ultra-light timepiece
Rado reinforces its position as a major innovator in the world of watchmaking with the new HyperChrome Ultra Light. Created from a trio of incredibly light materials (silicon nitride ceramic, anodized aluminum and hardened titanium), the minimalist design and ultra-light components place the HypeChrome Ultra Light at the cutting edge of fashion and technology.
With its index-free dial and palette of deep grays, the HyperChrome Ultra Light is an ode to simplicity. Naturally dark-gray silicon nitride gives the lightweight, matte monoblock case its famous hue. The dial is textured with concentric grooves that glide delicately downwards, recalling the soothing patterns carved in the sand of Zen gardens. A trendy Nato strap keeps this 56-gram limited edition timepiece on the wrist, capturing the essence of a sober, simple unisex aesthetic.

Zen innovation
Rado first introduced lightweight, scratch-resistant silicon nitride ceramic in 2012 with a limited edition model. The brand has been developing this remarkable material ever since. In its quest for ultimate lightness, Rado today reveals the HyperChrome Ultra Light, a silicon nitride timepiece in its lightest version. Thanks to the use of hardened titanium inserts and a movement containing anodized aluminum, weight is reduced to a minimum.
Commonly used in the aerospace and automotive sectors, silicon nitride is a high-performance material characterized by its exceptional hardness and lightness. Compared to Rado’s traditional high-tech ceramic, an incredibly hard and light material, ultra-light silicon nitride ceramic is harder and twice as light. Hardened titanium sandblasted inserts, another Rado innovation, add a sense of lightness to the HyperChrome Ultra Light, and the anodized aluminum blank of the automatic movement guarantees protection against corrosion and wear, while considerably reducing the overall weight of this timepiece.
The HyperChrome Ultra Light seduces with its Zen allure and barely perceptible weight on the wrist. It’s the ideal timepiece for those who know that simplicity is the ultimate sophistication.

New Rado HyperChrome 1616
The Swiss watchmaker addresses the adventurous man
Rado expands its collection with the HyperChrome 1616, an imposing ultra-masculine timepiece, a true ode to the spirit of discovery. This reinterpretation of Rado’s vintage Cape Horn collection pays tribute to the 400th anniversary of the valiant discovery of the South American cape.
In 1616, two Dutch merchants pushed back the boundaries of exploration by discovering Cape Horn, located at the tip of South America on a perilous sea route where the Atlantic and Pacific oceans meet. Now, four centuries later, Rado is launching its vintage Cape Horn collection, the first of which was introduced in the late 1960s, with an innovative twist that reflects the brand’s constant search for new designs and materials.
Revolutionary construction in a rugged look
The HyperChrome 1616 represents the latest example of Rado’s desire to push the boundaries. This timepiece is audacious in both form and function. Its unmistakable 46 mm angular case is available in two versions, black or metallic, both with extra-large leather straps. But the innovation of the Rado HyperChrome 1616 lies in the use of lightweight, highly resistant materials: the brand’s high-tech ceramics or titanium with an exclusive hardening treatment, a first in Rado’s range of materials.
Thanks to these materials, this imposing timepiece is surprisingly light. High-tech ceramic, a Rado innovation, is as hard and light as steel. Titanium, meanwhile, is an even lighter material that the brand has improved by modifying the structure of the metal’s surface. It’s much more than just a coating. With a hardness of 1000 Vickers, Rado’s hardening treatment makes titanium 5 times harder than steel, while weighing half as much.
With its rugged looks and lightweight construction, the Rado HyperChrome 1616 is a bold and comfortable accessory for anyone wishing to explore new clothing horizons.
