Until 18 October, Van Cleef & Arpels is presenting Perlée at Préf Café & Bar. Arthur Hoffner takes the gold bead as the starting point for a scenography.
The gold bead is small enough to set the rhythm of a ring and recognisable enough to organise a space. In Bangkok, Van Cleef & Arpels draws on this double scale in a pop-up devoted to Perlée, open from 1 to 18 October 2026 at Préf Café & Bar.
A motif that changes scale
Born in 2008, the collection uses gold beads arranged in one or several rows. Their repetition gives continuity to the volumes, and their polishing lets reflections travel. In the installation announced with the French artist Arthur Hoffner, this grammar meets coloured forms, supple lines and movement.
The Maison plans a sculpture, a Perlée game and a selection of jewellery and watches, including both established creations and new pieces. The scenography thus creates several ways of approaching a single family of forms.
Making it understood rather than enlarging it
The change of scale is the real subject of this encounter between sculpture and high jewellery. Enlarging a motif is not enough: one must also make perceptible what gives it interest on the jewel, its rhythm, its intervals and its relationship to light.
This coherence is what the installation invites visitors to examine. It may offer an entry into the design of Perlée before a detailed look at the pieces. The pop-up is at Préf Café & Bar, House No.1, Soi Sathon 11, in the Sathon district of Bangkok.
