From March 28 to May 5, 2014, Galerie Blumann is devoting an exhibition to rock icons: the Rolling Stones. “The Rolling Stones in the 70’s” was conceived by artist Dominic Lamblin. It features intimate shots of the Stones. Exclusive photographs and videos to immerse you in the world of the Rolling Stones.
Summer 1962: Brian Jones, Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ian Stewart, Mick Avory and Dick Taylor appear on stage for the first time as The Rollin’ Stones. The name was inspired by Muddy Waters’ “Rollin’ Stone”. More than 50 years later, The Rolling Stones have become an iconic rock band. In 1963, Bill Wyman took Dick Taylor’s place, Mick Avory left to join the Kinks and was replaced by Charlie Watts. As for Ian Stewart, he agreed to become the band’s Road Manager, and decided to add a “G” to “Rollin”.
The Rolling Stones are bad boys and provocateurs. Sex symbols who left their mark on music history. They single-handedly defined the look, attitude and sound of rock’n’roll. Galerie Blumann has decided to organize this exhibition on their career in the 1970s, featuring previously unpublished photographs by Dominic Lamblin.
Because Dominic Lamblin knows the Stones very well. He works in the music business and has played an important role in the French phonographic world. Spanning the best decades of rock and pop, he worked with the likes of Led Zeppelin, Michel Berger, Jean-Jacques Goldman and The Eagles. By 1963, he was working as a producer at Decca France, handling foreign artists including The Rolling Stones. A friendship developed between Dominic Lamblin and the five Stones. When the Stones signed with Atlantic, they asked that Dominic Lamblin be hired by Kinney to look after their label in France.
Dominic Lamblin’s love affair with the Stones endures. He became almost a member of the family, using the minibus reserved for his entourage to get to their concerts instead of taking his car. Thanks to this complicity, he was able to capture moments in the life of the Stones: work sessions, studio sessions and video shoots. In this exhibition, he presents exclusive photos taken in the intimacy of the Stones.
An exhibition that will excite all fans of The Rolling Stones. To be discovered at Galerie Blumann from March 28, 2014. You can also purchase Dominic Lamblin’s photographs on the Galerie’s website: http: //www.galerieblumann.com/fr/
