Maison Lejaby has been magnifying women’s beauty for 130 years with audacious creations. 130 years of expertise and innovation in the world of corsetry and bathing, which have made the brand so successful. A look back at the history of the House.
The origins of Maison Lejaby go back to 1884: Louis Neyron joined forces with Doctor Rasurel to create hygienic underwear using a new antiseptic material. His wife, Félicie de Champollon, took over the reins of the company after her husband’s death in 1917. She launched the first line of women’s lingerie. Her son Pierre launched the first swimwear line in 1927.
At the same time, the Blanchard family, who ran a movie theater, wrote another chapter in the company’s history. The impact of the legendary film “L’Ange Bleu”, in which Marlène Dietrich sings in garter belts, prompted Gaby Blanchard, a dressmaker, to produce a line of lingerie inspired by the star’s glamorous outfits. The enormous success of “La Gaby” bras gave birth to the Lejaby brand in 1930.

In 1960, on the death of the founder, the Lejaby company was taken over by the brothers Maurice and Charles Bugnon. The revolutionary Miss Top bra uses Lycra fiber for the first time in France. It was a hit, selling 3 million copies in France. The brand decides to go international, acquiring Rasurel’s swimwear business.
In the 70s, Lejaby took part in the women’s liberation movement by launching the innovative : Liberty. An underwire-free bra in six acidic shades broke with traditional color codes. Rasurel, meanwhile, achieved record sales in the history of swimwear, with 1,500,000 units sold in a single year. In 1990, Lejaby sprang a surprise with the first so-called invisible undergarment made of microfibers. The Nuage model sold over 15 million units.
Globalization weakens the world of corsetry. In 2012, Alain Prost took over the company and renamed it Maison Lejaby. Sensitive to the know-how, talent and innovative approach of his patternmakers and Corsican seamstresses, he imposed a new signature: “l’Esprit Couture à la française”. This signature affirms the brand’s identity around two fundamental values: the demands of its “couture” know-how and the creativity of “French” elegance. Three collections are launched. Each offers models in the bath, corsetry and lingerie worlds:
– Maison Lejaby Couture: the first and only luxury collection “Made in France” and entirely handmade.
– Maison Lejaby Premium: the modern heir to Lejaby and Rasurel.
– Maison Lejaby Elixir: an innovative seduction line for generous breasts that mobilizes all the brand’s technical expertise and creative know-how.

Maison Lejaby is back on the growth track, with new innovations such as the lace-encrusted nanofiber bra. These little works of art sublimate women. All creations are made from sophisticated materials (Lyonnaise silk, Calais lace…) and precious materials used in Haute Couture. Maison Lejaby’s daring collections set it apart from other lingerie brands. It reinterprets corsetry and bathing as an art form.
