LE MILLESIME 2013
Penfolds is one of Australia’s oldest and most prestigious producers, whose history is intertwined with that of Australia’s great wines. Penfolds plays a decisive role in the evolution and development of Australian wines.
Bin 8 embodies the traditional Penfolds style. Ripe, balanced fruit aromas are supported by well-integrated ageing, resulting in a round, silky wine. The numbers of the “Bin” cuvées were originally chosen according to their location in the cellars after bottling. The number 8 was assigned because the same oak barrels had previously been used for the Bin 128, Bin 28 and Bin 389 cuvées, the number 8 being the common denominator. Younger and more accessible, the Bin 8 Cabernet Shiraz can be enjoyed before its elder Bin 389 Cabernet Shiraz.
LE MILLESIME 2013
After a dry winter in South Australia, reminiscent of 2006, the vines were short of water in early spring. Early budburst and wind were responsible for below-average yields. Warm days in October, November and early January contributed to an early start to the 2013 harvest. The harvest was short. With the hot, dry weather, Shiraz and Cabernet developed powerful, structuring tannins offering intense flavors.
A lovely crimson red. Aromas of lead pencil and blackcurrant confirm the presence of Cabernet in this blend. Notes of tomato leaf and tart cherry mingle with red fruit. A summer fruit dessert with red fruit notes and a touch of praline. Flavors of olives, plums and spices follow.
THE BIN 8 IS ON SALE AT AN AVERAGE PRICE OF €19.
