For the anniversary of its sport-chic collection, the Geneva manufacture unveils an Overseas Ultra-Thin Perpetual Calendar in white gold, limited to 200 pieces and powered by Calibre 1120 QP/1.

Thirty years after its creation, the Overseas remains one of the most recognisable collections of Vacheron Constantin, one that has managed to combine the elegance of Geneva haute horlogerie with the versatility of a travel watch. To mark the anniversary, the manufacture unveils a new Overseas Ultra-Thin Perpetual Calendar reference, in a combination new to the line in white gold and, for the very first time, with an azure dial.

This azure shade, never before paired with this model, renews the reading of a dial already emblematic for its Maltese cross pattern, the house’s discreet signature. The choice of white gold for this thirtieth anniversary comes with an acknowledged rarity: the piece is limited to 200 examples worldwide, a production run that places this reference among the sought-after pieces of the Overseas range from the outset.

Beneath this azure dial beats Calibre 1120 QP/1, a perpetual calendar movement that ranks among the thinnest of its category. This mechanical slimness translates directly into the proportions of the case, integrated at just 8.1 mm thick — a feat for a perpetual calendar complication, which usually has to accommodate the stacking of several display levels and mechanisms.

The perpetual calendar remains one of the most demanding complications in haute horlogerie: it allows the watch to track months of unequal length and leap years automatically, without manual intervention, for decades, as long as the power reserve is maintained. Fitting this mechanism into an ultra-thin 8.1 mm case is an exercise in miniaturisation that few manufactures master at this level.

By celebrating 30 years of the Overseas with a piece that combines a new colour, a rare production run and mechanical achievement, Vacheron Constantin reaffirms the original purpose of this collection: a watch designed for daily wear and travel, yet one that has never relinquished the horological standards that have defined the house since 1755.
