From the exceptional terroir of CHATEAU-FIGEAC, 1er Grand Cru Classé de Saint-Emilion, PETIT-FIGEAC is produced by the same teams, under the direction of Frédéric FAYE. The fruit of a selection of the youngest vines in Figeac, PETIT-FIGEAC is harvested, vinified and bottled to the same exacting standards as the Grand Vin.
For many years, CHATEAU-FIGEAC’s second wine remained relatively confidential, but thanks to the visionary imprint of its owner, Thierry Manoncourt (1917-2010), it appeared as early as 1945. Starting with the 2012 vintage, the second wine of Figeac takes the name of a historic parcel at the heart of the estate: PETIT-FIGEAC*, asserts its elegant style and embodies the spirit of a great Saint-Emilion.
In order to associate this second wine as closely as possible with the Premier Grand Cru, the PETIT-FIGEAC label is uncluttered, powerfully colored in a gourmand orange-red, identified by a wax seal bearing the coat of arms of the owner family.
PETIT-FIGEAC 2013 has a brilliant, satiny ruby color with violet highlights. Highly aromatic, it first reveals aromas of licorice and spices, followed by notes of fresh berries such as blueberry and raspberry, with warmer nuances of cedar, roasted hazelnut and Sichuan pepper. The attack is lively and frank, with scents of fresh fruit such as blackcurrant and raspberry. The palate is full and velvety, with fine tannins. Full-bodied, the finish is greedy, slightly vanilla-flavored and very fruity. A seductive, gourmand, elegant wine with a modern touch. Focused on the expression of the fruit and the finesse of the tannins, this is a wine for pleasure, to be enjoyed and shared. A worthy reflection of the Grand!
Petit-Figeac 2013 is sold in the best wine shops for around €30.
