Piaget joins in the festivities of Chinese New Year 2022 by unveiling an Altiplano timepiece adorned with a fearsome tiger in “Grand Feu” cloisonné enamel. Meticulously decorated by master enameller Anita Porchet, this limited edition of 38 features a roaring tiger that unfurls in all its majesty on the dial. The timepiece is housed in a 38 mm case in 18-carat white gold set with 78 brilliant-cut diamonds, and houses the Manufacture Piaget 430P movement, an extra-flat hand-wound caliber. All these elements testify to Piaget’s expertise in extra-flat watches, gem-setting and craftsmanship excellence.
ANITA PORCHET, MASTER ENAMELLER
Renowned for her mastery of all enameling techniques, Anita Porchet has been working with Piaget since 2006. The cloisonné technique used for this Altiplano watch is a 4,000-year-old decorative art. First, the pattern is transferred to the dial surface using gold ribbons to create miniature partitions or “cloisons” into which the various enamel pigments are inserted. The dial is then repeatedly fired at a temperature of between 820 oC and 850 oC. Finally, it is varnished to immortalize the motif forever.
