JAEGER-LECOULTRE, MAIN SPONSOR OF THE
76TH INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL
OF THE VENICE BIENNALE
On the occasion of the 15th anniversary of its partnership with the Venice International Film Festival, the Grande Maison reaffirms its commitment to promoting film culture and preserving its heritage. As the main sponsor of this year’s event, Jaeger-LeCoultre will be taking an active part in all the highlights, adorning the stars with its finest creations and presenting a personalized Reverso watch to the winners of the most prestigious awards: Best Film (Lion d’Or or Leone d’Oro in Italian), Best Actress and Best Actor of the Year (Volpi Cup or Coppa Volpi) and Outstanding Career (Lion d’Or pour la carrière or Leone d’Oro alla carriera). These personalized watches will be hand-engraved in the Jaeger-LeCoultre workshops with a lion – the emblematic motif of the official logo of the Venice Biennale – and the inscription “76. Mostra”. Each year, Jaeger-LeCoultre pays tribute to the creativity of outstanding filmmakers by awarding the Glory to the Filmmaker prize to a personality who has – in the words of Festival Director Alberto Barbera – “made a major contribution to the development of contemporary cinema”. This year’s winner will join a prestigious list of personalities, including Takeshi Kitano (2007), Abbas Kiarostami (2008), Sylvester Stallone (2009), Mani Ratnam (2010), Al Pacino (2011), Spike Lee (2012), Ettore Scola (2013), James Franco (2014), Brian de Palma (2015), Amir Naderi (2016), Stephen Frears (2017) and Zhang Yimou (2018).
