Chivas Regal at Victoria 1836

The name Victoria 1836 marks a symbolic date for the city of Paris, with the inauguration of the Arc de Triomphe. The construction of this edifice was ordered by Napoleon 1st in the aftermath of the Battle of Austerlitz, as a fitting tribute to the great victories and great people who marked history.

At the same time in Scotland, brothers James and John Chivas were taking over a delicatessen in Aberdeen, Speyside. With the advent of grain whiskies at the beginning of the 19th century, they, like a few other pioneers, had the judicious intuition to blend the malt whiskies slumbering in their cellar with these newcomers. With the marketing of these fine products, the 2 entrepreneurs forged a fine reputation for themselves in Scotland. In 1843, during a visit by Queen Victoria to Balmoral Castle, they were awarded the coveted title of “Official Supplier to Her Majesty”. Since then, the Chivas brothers’ art of blending whiskies has stood the test of time. Today, it is meticulously perpetuated by Colin Scott, Master Blender at Chivas Regal since 1989.

The Chivas Regal tasting trail has been designed to illustrate the richness of these destinies, and to enhance the Victoria 1836, an exceptional venue. 3 spaces, 3 atmospheres, and as many ways of tasting this whisky that crosses history with us.
