Tiffany & Co. unveiled the 2014 edition of the Blue Book on Thursday, April 10 at the Guggenheim Museum in New York, which was transformed, for the duration of an
evening, into a pantheon of colors flooding the museum’s rotunda. All the glamour of Tiffany was on display at one of New York’s most important cultural institutions, renowned for its modern and contemporary collection. Frank Lloyd Wright’s curvaceous architecture was the perfect setting to showcase the spectacular creations of the latest Blue Book.
Gemstones have always played a key role in the international renown that Tiffany & Co. enjoys today, after more than 175 years of history with its roots in New York. The Blue Book is a showcase for these jewelry treasures, which were revealed last night in New York.
The 300 or so guests, including Jessica Biel, Katie Holmes and Kate Bosworth, were welcomed into an atmosphere made sparkling by brightly colored gems: from vibrant blues and greens to sunny yellows, bright reds, pinks and purples. The design of the pieces was inspired by nature, diverse and exuberant, with colorful sapphire flowers on a floral necklace and an electrifying blue copper tourmaline on a diamond necklace. Other creations include a white gold cuff with waves of blue sapphires and diamonds; extravagant rings by Jean Schlumberger with rubellites, aquamarines and turquoise; flowing earrings and a bracelet adorned with Montana sapphires.
Tiffany presented a dazzling kaleidoscope of rare colored diamonds, including a ring adorned with a 15.04-carat daffodil diamond; Art Deco-inspired cuffs with daffodil and white diamonds; a necklace draped with over 140 carats of the rarest stones; and important diamond and platinum rings.
The Blue Book culminated in “The Diamond Sky”, an ephemeral concept of light and sound created by Leo Kuelbs Collection, highlighting the many colors and creative energy of the collection. The show unveiled the enchanting Blue Book gems that enveloped the museum rotunda in three dimensions. The gems blazed through breathtaking projections featuring the Tiffany Diamond, an icon of Tiffany’s heritage, followed by a sketch of Tiffany’s Fifth Avenue flagship and New York skyscrapers. These references to a legendary heritage floated, for a moment, to transform
into stars, capturing an unforgettable night when the world’s most beautiful jewels were brought to light.
