Buccellati and Venini, two historic luxury brands, have collaborated once again to create a collection of unique and exquisite objects that marry the mastery of silver and hand-blown Murano glass. The collection, entitled “Rosso Maraviglia”, will be presented at Milan Design Week 2023.

The collaboration between Buccellati and Venini began in the 1970s when Gianmaria Buccellati chose Murano glass for colorful jam jars. In 2016, the first collaboration was born in the Caviar line, where small silver spheres were combined with hand-blown glass fused with silver leaf. “Rosso Maraviglia” takes the collaboration a step further, combining Buccellati’s silver base of fruit and leaves with some of Venini’s most representative objects.

One of the objects in the collection is Venini’s “Fazzoletto” vase, born in 1948 from the creativity of Fulvio Bianconi, who now resides in New York’s MOMA. The vase features a Buccellati silver base that decorates its graceful, curved shape, resulting from the “flying hand” technique, with the charm of color in unique shapes for each creation. The “Deco” vase, designed by Napoleone Martinuzzi in 1930, is another example of a rhythmic composition formed by alternating round horizontal ribs in opaline glass. Buccellati accentuates this characteristic by adding a row of silver rings to the foot and mouth of the vase.

The Narciso bowl is offered by Buccellati enriched with a fruit decoration on the base, while the Venere bowl is enriched with an orderly, rich crown of shells. “I’m very happy with this renewed collaboration with Venini. With them, everything is very simple and intuitive, because we nurture the same passion for craftsmanship and tradition that has guided us from our foundation to the present day,” says Andrea Buccellati, Honorary Chairman and Creative Director of Buccellati.

Buccellati is renowned for its haute joaillerie brand, admired for its craftsmanship and the uniqueness of its creations. The use of rare stones in extraordinary colors, mixed with white and yellow gold, is distinctive, and all beautifully sculpted like lace. The shapes of the collections are all inspired by historical archive drawings and the very first creations of the founder, Mario Buccellati. Today, the House is 100% owned by the Richemont Group, and Buccellati boutiques can be found in the world’s most important cities and prestigious shopping centers.

Venini, meanwhile, is known the world over for the artistic and cultural excellence of its Murano glass creations. Over the course of its 100-year history, Venini has succeeded in combining this age-old culture with the flair created with artists and designers, giving rise to priceless creations that are now part of the collections of prestigious museums such as the Metropolitan Museum, the MOMA in New York, the Centre Georges-Pompidou in Paris and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

The collaboration between Buccellati and Venini represents an unprecedented combination of tradition, art and the experience of “savoir-faire”, values that have always characterized the history of the two Houses, symbols of the highest quality and prestige of craftsmanship, uniqueness and timeless elegance. The “Rosso Maraviglia” collection bears witness to the creativity and craftsmanship of these two emblematic brands.
