After a successful launch in the USA in winter 2022, Steinway & Sons is finally unveiling its latest creation in Europe: the Gran Nichetto. This limited edition, the fruit of a collaboration between award-winning designer Luca Nichetto and the master craftsmen at Steinway & Sons, will be presented at the Salone del Mobile in Milan, from April 18 to 23, 2023.

Limited to just 50 units worldwide, the B-211 Gran Nichetto in black ebony finish will be the only one available in Europe. It will be on exclusive display at the MOHD interior design showroom for the duration of the show.

Inspired by Venetian gondolas, the Gran Nichetto is distinguished by its elegant design and harmonious curves. Leather details add a refined Italian touch to the instrument. Nichetto worked closely with Steinway craftsmen to redefine all the external elements of the piano, assembling them in such a way as to evoke a microarchitecture project.

The process of creating the Gran Nichetto Limited Edition took over four years. Nichetto wanted to pay homage to Venice, his birthplace, by integrating the softness and dynamism of the Venetian gondola into the details of the piano. Elegantly sculpted legs and brass and stainless steel keys emphasize the instrument’s silhouette. The music stand, crafted in high-quality Italian leather, contrasts with the beltline and adds exceptional lustre.

The Gran Nichetto is also equipped with the revolutionary Spirio | r technology, the world’s most powerful high-definition reproduction system. This technology makes it possible to play, record and play back one’s own interpretations with unrivalled quality. The Spirio music library offers a constantly evolving collection of interpretations by the greatest artists, from living legends to Steinway Immortals.

Spirio | r technology is a skilful blend of art, craftsmanship and technology that offers artists powerful tools of expression. Through an iPad, listeners can access a vast music library, almost indistinguishable from live performances, including contemporary Steinway artists as well as “Steinway Immortals” such as Duke Ellington, Glenn Gould, Arthur Rubinstein and Art Tatum. Every month, the library of content available on the Spirio app is enriched and automatically updated.

Since 1853, Steinway & Sons pianos have set the benchmark for sound, touch and aesthetics. They remain the preferred choice of nine out of ten concert pianists, as well as many professionals and amateurs. For more information on the Gran Nichetto and Steinway & Sons, visit www.steinway.fr.
