Bulgari donates a sumptuous Serpenti Haute Joaillerie necklace to amfAR

On the occasion of the Cinema Against Aids gala organized by amfAR in Cannes on May 22, 2014, Bulgari donated one of its sublime Haute Joaillerie Serpenti necklaces to the charity. Created by the master of colored stones, this masterpiece of the range in white gold is enhanced by an imposing pear-cut aquamarine, surrounded by a splendid pave of diamonds evoking reptilian undulations with elegance and refinement. Bulgari’s signature motif has always been the ‘serpenti’, or ‘snake’ in French, an emblematic symbol of eternity and prosperity, elevated to jewel status by Cleopatra when she visited Julius Caesar in Rome in 46 BC. Almost two millennia later, Serpenti creations were once again in the spotlight when Elizabeth Taylor – the glamorous co-founder of amfAR and divine incarnation of Cleopatra in the 1963 film of the same name – asked Bulgari, one of her favorite jewelers, to imagine a collection she could wear both on and off the screen.

In tribute to Elizabeth Taylor and her iconic jewelry, Bvlgari is supporting the association founded by the legendary Hollywood actress by donating one of its most precious pieces of Haute Joaillerie. Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, Bvlgari ambassador and co-president of the amfAR gala, was on hand to support the cause and wore the necklace before it was auctioned off during the gala evening.
