A summer in the Bernese Alps: Hotel The Alpina Gstaad

Few places like Gstaad and the Saanenland region offer an incredible array of activities for young and old all year round. This summer, The Alpina Gstaad, which reopens its doors on June 6, will satisfy every desire for outdoor adventure and discovery. The hotel’s many activities can be booked in advance at the Tree House Club, which also offers the services of qualified baby-sitters from June 16.

For a long weekend or mid-week getaway, choose the Deluxe Family Holiday package – a four-night stay for four people, including accommodation in two Deluxe rooms. The package includes a Gstaad Easy Access Card valid for three days, enabling you to visit Saanenland, the resort of Zweisimmen and the Pays-d’Enhaut by cable car or public transport. The family will also receive a credit of 400 Swiss francs (328 euros) per day to spend in the hotel’s restaurants and bars.

Every day, the Tree House Club offers different activities, supervised by the on-site nanny. A real indoor playground, this complex invites children to enjoy playful adventures in a deliberately rustic setting.

In addition to the region’s popular activities, such as paragliding, rafting and mountain biking (there are 280 km of marked mountain trails), local guides have catalogued the best hiking routes to fully appreciate the beauty of the Bernese Oberland. Experienced hikers can go as far as the “Gummfluh”, 2,458 m above sea level, for a chance to spot ibex. Willy, an experienced mountain guide from Schönried, is passionate about the flora of the region and willing to share his knowledge with those he accompanies. Just a few kilometers from Gstaad, Lake Lauenen is a popular destination for relaxation. The area is also an ideal starting point for mountain walks and high-altitude hikes to the Gelten nature reserve, which offers an impressive landscape of rock and ice.

Families staying at The Alpina Gstaad also have the opportunity to spend some time in a traditional Alpine chalet, right in the middle of a mountain meadow. For a day or just a few hours, they can discover how farmers look after their animals in summer and make cheese over campfires. If they wish, families can also go mushroom picking, accompanied by a guide who will help them distinguish the good from the poisonous.

All activities and hikes can be adapted to the participants’ wishes in terms of duration and level of difficulty. Activities can last from a few hours to a full day, if the family has chosen to spend the night in the comfortable chalet.

It’s a great way to spend a fun-filled vacation with the whole family, while taking part in fun, natural activities!
