As you know, Luxsure is fond of discovery, luxury and perfumery. We like to dip our noses into small independent houses unearthed here and there. So it was with great pleasure that we discovered the Comité Joséphine, whose aim is to act as a forum for French rare fragrance houses for consumers, brands and distributors.
Supported by a committee of experts, its aim is to federate, represent, help, defend and promote the entire sector, helping consumers to make better choices, brands to better communicate and create, and distributors and points of sale to better identify authentic houses of rare perfumes. Houses meeting the criteria of the Comité Joséphine’s quality and commitment charter may be approved as members by the committee of experts and benefit from the quality label.
Why Joséphine?
The name Joséphine refers, of course, to Joséphine Bonaparte née Tascher de La Pagerie (known as de Beauharnais), whose biennial is being celebrated in 2014. A woman of France, of the world and of Worlds, a sensual and bewitching woman who was astonishingly modern and free, Joséphine was also passionate about science and botany. She was instrumental in introducing new flowers to France, and two roses bear her name. A woman of taste, famous for her beauty
and her finery, in search of love, refinement and luxury, an ambassador for art and the arts, a curious woman and a patron of the arts, Joséphine, born an aristocrat, married in turn the Revolution and the Empire. It’s a meaningful name with international resonance, representing France, its genius, its contrasts and its modernity.
