DOM PÉRIGNON X TOKUJIN YOSHIOKA CREATIVE COLLABORATION
THE POWER OF INSPIRATION
Inspiration gives creation its power. Inspiration is at the origin of Dom Pérignon and still guides its creative force. A force that has no other ambition than harmony, a source of emotion, where aesthetics and sensoriality come into play: precision, intensity, touch, minerality, complexity, fullness; a way of embracing and grasping the note.

Dom Pérignon’s aesthetic ideal is a quest. Always to be perfected, often within reach, but never fully accomplished. Every creative process has its constraints. Dom Pérignon’s is the vintage. Dom Pérignon can only be produced from a single year’s harvest. Dom Pérignon’s creative legacy is the reinvention of his work with each new vintage. From one vintage to the next, the process is refined and new tensions emerge.
Creative artists from other disciplines share Dom Pérignon’s approach, inviting them to explore new territories and transcribe certain facets of Dom Pérignon in unexpected ways.
These great artists include Marc Newson, Karl Lagerfeld, David Lynch, Jeff Koons, Lang Lang and Iris van Herpen. This year, Dom Pérignon has enlisted the talents of Japanese designer Tokujin Yoshioka to unveil a singular characteristic of Dom Pérignon Vintage 2009.
” Inspiration is that moment when my vision reveals itself, when I find the strength to shape that vision in a totally new and personal way. It’s that feeling, that force, the madness that takes over creation”
Tokujin Yoshioka
TRIBUTE TO DOM PÉRIGNON VINTAGE 2009
“The year 2009 began with unfavorable conditions that persisted. A harsh winter followed by a rainy spring. Fortunately, August was ideal. In September, we were able to harvest perfectly ripe, magnificent and perfectly healthy fruit – a raw material that was just waiting to be transformed into Dom Pérignon Vintage 2009.”
Richard Geoffroy, Dom Pérignon Cellar Manager

Born in the twilight of a prodigiously sunny and generous decade, a year of strong luminosity and warmth, Dom Pérignon’s 2009 vintage is a solar champagne. To the eye as to the palate, it communicates its radiance, almost intangible yet with a formidable presence. A champagne of living light that sparkles with a thousand and one colors, arousing a wave of resplendent emotions.
The energy and beauty of light permeate Tokujin Yoshioka’s work, and this is what led Dom Pérignon to see an alter ego in this original artist.
Richard Geoffroy remembers: “The artistic complicity between Tokujin and Dom Pérignon was obvious to me from our first meeting. When we tasted the champagne, he immediately made the connection with the sunny character of Dom Pérignon Vintage 2009.”
Tokujin Yoshioka attests: “Light is a bridge between our aesthetic ideals and our creations. And in so doing, the notions of light, transparency and brilliance are particularly relevant to Dom Pérignon Vintage 2009.
A LIMITED EDITION FOR THE 2017 END OF YEAR HOLIDAYS
Tokujin Yoshioka’s interpretation of Dom Pérignon Vintage 2009 – the luminosity of a year, the soul of this champagne – embodied in an objet d’art and on the shield of the box and bottle of this limited edition.
The limited edition:
As an extension of his crystal creation, Tokujin Yoshioka revisits the shield, the House’s coat of arms, as a force springing from the bottle’s dark glass: its vibration and shimmer generate a multi-dimensional presence, like a hologram. In this representation, the shield evokes what it feels like to taste Dom Pérignon Vintage 2009 in the fullness of its light, tonalities and emotion.
This new interpretation of the shield is featured on the boxed set with the artist’s signature.
“Dom Pérignon gives free rein to the artist’s imagination, reinventing the brand’s codes through the prism of his own aesthetic schemes. For me, this was an exhilarating and interesting source of inspiration”, explains Tokujin Yoshioka.
This Dom Pérignon by Tokujin Yoshioka edition will only be available in a limited number for the 2017 holiday season in selected boutiques.

DOM PÉRIGNON VINTAGE 2009
Dom Pérignon Vintage 2009 crowns a prodigious decade: solar, insolent, generous. The grapes have reached a degree of ripeness that will be difficult to surpass.
Dom Pérignon Vintage 2009 is singular in the extreme, the fruit majestic.
The harvest: 2009 began with unfavorable conditions that have persisted. After a harsh winter, spring was mild and rainy. Flowering proved difficult and
the threat of rot was high. In July, storms raised fears for the health of the grapes. August, on the other hand, was ideal. The weather remained uninterruptedly hot and dry right up to the harvest, with the exception of an unfortunate hailstorm on September 4 on the Hautvillers, Verzenay and Chouilly plots. The harvest began on September 12 under idyllic conditions. The fruit was ripe, magnificent and perfectly healthy. The Pinot Noir grapes were strangely lightly colored.
Nose: Notes of guava and spicy green grapefruit peel combine with stone fruits: white peach and nectarine. The wine opens with a fullness of warm, woody vanilla aromas and lightly toasted brioche.
Taste: Majestic fruit: ripe, fleshy and powerful. Beyond opulence and a certain voluptuousness, a strong impression of consistency prevails. The wine’s power is remarkably restrained. Different sensations – silky, salty, juicy, bitter and iodized – converge and persist.
