The iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini also feature a bright Super Retina XDR display, while the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max boast a stunning Super Retina XDR display with ProMotion featuring an adaptive refresh rate from 10 to 120 Hz. The new iPhone 13 Pro in Alpine Green and iPhone 13 in Green can be pre-ordered this Friday, March 11, and will be available on Friday, March 18.
“The design of the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 is very popular, and we’re delighted to introduce these new Alpine Green and Green colors, which join the other superb finishes in the iPhone 13 range,” said Bob Borchers, Apple’s Vice President of Worldwide Product Marketing. “These new colors offer more choice for customers looking to buy an iPhone and thus enjoy all the benefits of the iPhone 13 range, including unrivalled performance thanks to the A15 Bionic chip, our most advanced cameras, a significant improvement in everyday battery life, 5G, incredible durability and much more.”
Sophisticated, durable design
The iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 feature an elegant, hard-wearing design. The new alpine green iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max feature a multi-layered surface of metallic nano-ceramic, a surgical stainless steel band and a textured matte glass back. Both models feature a Super Retina XDR display with ProMotion, the most advanced iPhone screen to date, and come in two sizes: 6.1″ and 6.7″. The iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini feature an elegant, color-matched aluminum frame and precision-machined glass back, with a stunning Super Retina XDR display, and come in two sizes: 6.1 and 5.4 inches1. All models in the iPhone 13 range feature an iPhone-exclusive Ceramic Shield front panel that’s tougher than glass on any smartphone, and they retain their IP68 rating for water and dust resistance2.
A15 Bionic: the ultimate smartphone chip
The iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 draw their power from the A15 Bionic chip, tightly integrated into iOS 15, which delivers incredible experiences like Cinematic mode and impressive graphics performance. The A15 Bionic chip brilliantly executes the most demanding tasks, accelerates machine learning tasks, and its custom-designed Image Signal Processor (ISP) combined with the high-performance photo system enables photo features like Smart HDR 4 and Photographic Styles. The A15 Bionic chip, more energy-efficient components and power optimizations made possible by the tight integration of hardware and software improve the battery life of the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro, while the iPhone 13 Pro Max offers the best battery life to date on an iPhone3.
The most advanced iPhone cameras
With a high-end camera system optimized to take advantage of iOS 15 and the new A15 Bionic chip image signal processor, iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 respectively feature the most advanced pro photo system and dual camera on iPhone to date. The iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max have introduced a new pro camera system with wide-angle, ultra-wide-angle and telephoto lenses for superb photos and videos, and impressive new capabilities such as macro photography and pro video. The dual cameras of the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini represent a quantum leap forward. It incorporates a wide-angle camera with the largest sensor ever installed in an iPhone’s dual camera, a specially designed ultra-wide-angle camera and an optical image stabilization system based on sensor displacement. Thanks to the faster Neural Engine integrated into the A15 Bionic chip, iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 offer impressive computational photo processing features, such as Smart HDR 4, Deep Fusion, Night mode on all cameras, Portrait mode with Portrait Lighting and Photographic Styles. The iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max also feature Apple ProRAW.
Offering unprecedented video quality on a smartphone, the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 inaugurated Cinematic mode, which adds a magnificent bokeh effect to videos, with the ability to adjust focus during and after shooting4. The iPhone was also the first smartphone in the world to offer an end-to-end pro production workflow in Dolby Vision HDR, from capture to editing to broadcast. The iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max take advantage of the ProRes format.
iOS 15 integration
The alpine green iPhone 13 Pro and green iPhone 13 come with iOS 15.4, which offers the ability to use Face ID while wearing a mask, and adds a new Siri voice, support for new languages with Visual Search, new emoji, and much more.
These latest software innovations enrich iOS 15 and the iPhone experience with additional ways to stay in touch, powerful updates that promote focus and discovery, and other smart features that push the limits of what you can do with an iPhone. FaceTime calls are more natural with spatial audio and Portrait mode, SharePlay offers a new way to share experiences with loved ones during a FaceTime call, the Focus feature helps you reduce distractions, notifications have been redesigned, and Live Text uses the device’s intelligence to recognize and exploit text present in a photo. Apple Maps offers new ways to navigate and explore the world, with a three-dimensional city driving experience and augmented reality pedestrian routes. The Weather app gets a facelift: it now features full-screen maps and a more graphic display of its data. The Maps app now supports home keys, driver’s licenses and IDs. New privacy controls in Siri, Mail and system-wide enhance the protection of personal information5.
The iPhone and the environment
The iPhone 13 models have been designed to have a minimal impact on the environment. These include the use of 100% recycled rare earths in the magnets, including those for the MagSafe elements, 100% recycled gold in the motherboard plating and in the cable for the front and rear cameras. The solder joints on the main logic motherboard are made from 100% recycled tin, as are, for the first time, those on the battery management unit. The plastic lines that act as antennae on the iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 mini are made from recycled plastic water bottles that have been chemically transformed into a high-performance, highly resistant material – an industry first. As the new packaging for the iPhone 13 range no longer includes an outer plastic film, Apple is reducing its use of plastic by 600 tonnes, bringing it a step closer to its goal of eliminating plastic from its packaging entirely by 2025. The iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 comply with Apple’s stringent energy efficiency standards, and are still completely free of many harmful substances.
Apple has achieved carbon neutrality for its global business operations, and is aiming for zero net climate impact by 2030 across its entire business, including its manufacturing supply chains and the lifecycle of all its products. This means that every Apple device sold, from component manufacture, assembly, transportation, use and recharging, to recycling and materials recovery, will be 100% carbon neutral.
