The Saint-Siméon Collection offers a charming new address: Hôtel Saint-Delis!
Exclusive and confidential, this luxury boutique hotel occupies the former home of painter Henri de Saint-Delis, offering 9 elegant, contemporary rooms and suites.
Two hours from Paris, the Collection Saint-Siméon invites you to immerse yourself in the world of painter Henri de Saint-Delis, for a timeless break in its new luxury establishment. An enchanted interlude that blends sensations, family spirit and emotions. In the heart of the historic district, everything is designed to give you a change of scenery. Strolls along the Honfleur basin, reminiscent of the paintings of Henri de Saint-Delis, invite you to relax. The charming buildings take us back to the 18th century, and the church of Sainte-Catherine, the largest wooden church in France, takes us back in time. Nestled in one of the narrow streets is a confidential new address. A very special place, with an essence all its own: L’Hôtel Saint-Delis – La maison du peintre. The Saint-Siméon Collection, which already boasts 2 hotels, the legendary Relais et Châteaux, the Ferme Saint Siméon and the charming Auberge de la Source hotel, opened a new resort in the heart of Honfleur in January 2020.
Named Hôtel Saint-Delis – La maison du peintre, in homage to the eponymous artist who lived at this address for the last few years of his life, this discreetly charming boutique hotel is fully in keeping with the town’s heritage as a City of Arts and History. It was the history of this atypical place that immediately inspired the owners of the famous Ferme Saint Siméon. The hotel has the particularity of being made up of 3 houses: the first, from the 18th century, the second from the 19th century and attached to the first, and the third from the 17th century. The renovation of this trio, which is part of Honfleur’s conservation area, was closely monitored by the Architectes des Bâtiments de France to protect its authenticity. The 18th-century facade, with its original half-timbering and stonework, stands out. Its red color attracts the curiosity of passers-by. On the front, a sign reads: “The painter Henri de Saint-Delis lived in this house for the last years of his life. This marks the start of a journey, 80 years in the past, in this superb townhouse that witnessed part of the painter’s life. You enter through a small, almost hidden door. The ceiling is low and authentic. You can almost touch its original wooden beams. This is the reception area, formerly the painter’s salon.
There are 9 rooms, distributed among the different houses. They are enchanting from the first glance. This authentic place is still charged with the painter’s inspiration and emotions… The hotel has 4 categories, with rooms ranging from 23 to 40 square meters. The 9 rooms are elegant and contemporary. One stands out all the more for its impressive history. To discover it, you have to step outside onto an original wooden spiral staircase. As you pass through the doorway, the room emerges under a mansard roof. This was the painter’s real bedroom. It’s easy to imagine him painting the magnificent view through the window. When it comes to bedding, once again, the Saint-Siméon Collection offers an enchanting experience. In this gigantic bed, you sink into the generous blankets, the thick cushions taking the shape of your head. It’s a cocoon in which to forget yourself for a few days. 9 VERY SPECIAL ROOMS The view from every room. A magnificent panorama of Honfleur’s rooftops, half-timbered houses and Normandy countryside. A sublime ambience that intensifies with the sunset and its soft light over the historic town. On the high-tech side, to facilitate guests’ stay and enable them to enjoy this intimate bubble, a tablet is available in every room. On it, everything can be booked at La Ferme Saint Siméon, L’Auberge de la Source, Le Vieux Honfleur and, of course, Le Saint Delis: restaurant, spa, horse-drawn carriage tour, good addresses in the region… as well as room service, practical information, Netflix, Spotify and more. Everything is available and/or delivered to your room, at the click of a button! Like a guest in the painter’s house, all products from the mini bar are offered to customers, as well as all welcome products.
We could simply mention the hammam showers in each room and the whirlpool baths, as these are rare. But here, the Collection Saint Siméon offers not just facilities, but a real bubble of well-being. After a beautiful day in Normandy, it’s time to relax. The sensory journey begins with the hammam, which you turn on yourself. Just a few minutes are all it takes to feel the benefits, as impurities leave the skin and the body relaxes to the gentle scent of the air. For the next stage of the therapy, a warm bath is drawn. Settle in, snuggle up and feel as if you’re on cloud nine. Once the whirlpools start, you’re floating. From the window, you can enjoy an incredible view of the Honfleur rooftops and Le Havre bridge.
Every element is designed, built or sewn to order. The materials are noble and natural, and the decor is refined and warm. The atmosphere is cosy. Beige, brown, black, white. Oak, linen, metal, marble, suede… Generous armchairs, herringbone parquet flooring, shag rugs, slatted dressers, imposing raw-wood headboards… Lights are subdued, discreet, hidden in the baseboards. The ceiling light could almost disturb. The colorful touch: several frescoes on display in the bedrooms. Imagined from zooms of Saint-Délis paintings, they represent Honfleur and the surrounding area. Surprisingly, these very contemporary frescoes conceal drawings by a great 19th/20th century painter. In this confidential address, while respecting tradition, the designers bring a light modern and creative breath and are inspired by the painter’s works, always under the watchful eye of the Architectes des Bâtiments de France. All the more reason to arouse curiosity and rediscover the art of the master of the house.
Although it doesn’t have a restaurant as such, the boutique-hotel offers room service and a lounge that can be transformed to suit your mood: from 7:30 a.m. for breakfast, 4:00 p.m. for tea or 6:00 p.m. for a drink at the bar and some tapas around the fireplace or in the garden. In the breakfast room, the crackling fireplace, the smell of fresh coffee, the desire to prepare something in the open kitchen. We find ourselves contemplating a painting on its easel. Is it by the painter Henri de Saint-Délis? Yes, an original. There, simply posed, accessible to all, as if we were in the home of the painter himself, still unaware of his talent. The breakfast buffet is very extensive: salmon, cold meats, eggs, pastries, local juices and more. All prepared by Ferme Saint Siméon using local, organic produce. Guests can also order breakfast in their room. Later in the day, the room dresses up for the evening to offer guests an aperitif: wine, Calvados, juice, etc. made exclusively with local produce. For hotel guests and out-of-town guests, the bar is open from 6:00 pm. In summer, a magnificent flower-filled garden will also be available to make the most of Normandy’s fine weather. If guests are too comfortable in the cocoon of their room, the hotel also offers room service with smoked salmon platter, charcuterie/cheese platter, foie gras platter, fresh fruit, homemade soup… A simple, accessible menu, made entirely from Norman produce.
