Inviting us to travel to her native Saint Petersburg, Ulyana Sergeenko took us back to the communal apartments of the Soviet era, each piece subtly suggesting the traditional interiors of her childhood: a sofa became a soft fur coat, and a fully embroidered dress evoked the structured silhouette of a lampshade. The designer has made high-flying craftsmanship her trademark, and this season was no exception, from meticulously hand-applied crystals to delicate lace bibs and sumptuous fur coats. Christian Louboutin chose to echo the fur pompoms that punctuated the collection, topping his Youpi 120 in silver metallic leather and his brand-new Dorissima 120 in matte leather with a single fluffy mink pompom. From head to toe, Ulyana Sergeenko paid a vibrant tribute to old-world nostalgia and Haute Couture opulence.
