International sports brand PUMA renews its partnership with New York streetwear icons ALIFE for the Spring-Summer 2016 collection.
From their headquarters at 158 Rivington Street on the Lower East Side, ALIFE’s creative team can talk endlessly about the influence of sport on their lifestyle and their approach to streetwear design. The new two-part PUMA x ALIFE collection, the first inspired by soccer and the second by the brand’s New York heritage, is an expression of this passion.
Elevated to the status of a symbol of the brand’s design approach, with its speckled Trinomic base in neoprene and nubuck, the Blaze of Glory x ALIFE concentrates all the effervescence of the streets of New York. The PUMA x ALIFE collection also revisits the classic R698 silhouette, with two different models: one combines suede, nubuck and embroidered motifs, the other, black on black, marries PUMA’s sporty aesthetic with ALIFE’s own vision of streetwear. The New York-based brand has also appropriated PUMA’s STATES, a favorite among fans of classic suede silhouettes, and remodeled it in a very pop art spirit, with the use of shiny snakeskin leather, for example.
Based on ALIFE’s sportswear concept, the first collection revolves around soccer: branded with the PUMA Archive N°1 logo, it also bears the jersey number 158, which recalls the store’s address at 158 Rivington Street. The comfortable nylon Archive windbreaker is a sportswear take on the PUMA Archive. The ALIFE jersey, inspired by soccer shirts, is destined to become a sportswear classic thanks to its double knit, moisture-repellent coating and DryCell technology.
The second part of the collection embodies ALIFE’s passion for its city: the Olympic Tack Savannah jacket and pants, and the Olympic Logo and Olympic Running t-shirts feature the text and logo of the famous “Welcome to Fear City” leaflets distributed in 1975.
Thanks to this partnership, the two brands have been able to bring ALIFE’s New York heritage and PUMA’s passion for creating sporty streetwear to life in a single collection.
This collection will be available from major distributors worldwide from February 13, 2016.
