Acne Studios opened a new flagship store in Berlin on October 31, 2015 on Potsdamer Straße, in the heart of the German capital’s art gallery district. The new store continues the brand’s tradition, with a focus on the signature elements of the brand’s aesthetic: chrome steel and signature furniture.
“We have an emotional bond with Berlin, as it was the first city outside Scandinavia in which we opened a boutique, over 10 years ago. The Potsdamer boutique is located in a district far removed from other fashion boutiques, with the exception of Andreas Murkudis, a district renowned for the large number of art galleries it hosts and which has such a special atmosphere. The building and the space are beautiful. I’m sure they’ll make a very happy setting for us.

Acne Studios was careful to preserve the boutique’s raw character, in keeping with the spirit of the building and the neighborhood, in order to preserve its original energy. Inside, a labyrinth of corridors and adjoining rooms are illuminated by specially designed overhead lighting. Shiny steel walls are set against raw cement walls in a very pale, chalky yellow, inspired by the beige color of Berlin cabs. White terrazzo floors and furniture soften the overall effect, contrasting with the long steel tables lined up all around.
The 260-square-meter space houses the men’s and women’s collections, as well as the denim, accessories and footwear lines. The brand’s opening plan will continue with two new addresses in New York, each with a specific design and selected locations.
